Happiness !

It was 9 in the Night .He was returning back from his office. He reached his home and rested for a while thinking about the day.He had been busy since morning attending meetings, calls & speaking to his employees. Aditya was the CEO of Varma Group of Industries ,a position which he had taken charge after his father's demise.Being a Graduate from Harvard ,he had plenty of knowledge and experience to run the company.A Business tycoon who had made it to the Forbes List ,workaholic who was busy all days of the week. The only thing he felt he lacked was happiness.People usually mistake happiness with money, power, position or fame, he thought. He had everything but he wasn't happy. The incident that happened the previous day had made him think this.Since many years, there was a Chaiwala who used to get Tea to their company during break time. As usual Aditya was expecting Tea during the morning break. It was Ten minutes and the Chaiwala hadn't arrived.Suddenly there was a knock on the door.A small boy, maybe around 12 years old was in front of him with the tea.He was cheerful with a smile on his face.Humming a tune with no worries on his face, the boy seemed pretty happy. The boy said that he was the Chaiwala's grandson and his name was Raj .Aditya felt pity on the boy and told the boy he must be studying rather than doing work. The boy replied that he goes to school, since it was a holiday and his Grandfather was not feeling well, he had come. After drinking the tea ,Aditya took pity on the boy and gave him a Rs 100 note thinking that the boy would be happy. The boy kindly refused the money and told him to pay only Rs 10 which was the amount to be paid. Aditya was dumbstruck by the boy's honesty and humbleness. He told the boy that he could buy whatever he wants to with it and it was a gift. The boy refused again & replied Rs 10 was sufficient enough for him to be happy. He could still buy a pencil, chocolate & a paan for his grandpa which would make not only him but also his Grandpa happy. For a moment, Aditya realised what the boy told was right.Money wasn't everything. There are other things which make you happy. The small things, maybe a Cup of Coffee when you are down ,the smell of the first rain, speaking to your friend,The Morning dew,Reading a Good book,Spending time with your loved ones,A long drive or other small things which he hadn't considered important. He felt he needed to give importance to those small things daily which mattered the most. It reminded him of John Lennon's quote that he had read long back " When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’.They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life ".
